Robins and Kingfishers

Friday being my day off, I decided to treat myself despite the weather not looking too good out there. So I packed my kit and went off to, well, where else? Forest Farm and in the morning is probably the best time to go. The heavy winds we have been having have blown most of the leaves off and this thing makes our little british birds more visible and great for amateurs. As soon as I stepped into the reserve the robin song was heard and it then didn't take long to find one but in fact it found me, perched on the branch right in front of me it started endlessly at me why I pathetically tried to be as quiet as I can to take a picture. As usually though as soon as it was all setup it flew off and appeared in front of my feet and back up again and seeing a robin so close will beat any photograph and after only about 5 photos it flew into the trees out of sight.

On the way to the hide a bunch of long tailed tits made themselves noticed flying from branch to branch and perching upside down is what I can best described it as. I didn't even attempt a picture with these little twitchers but just enjoyed their company and they were gone within minutes. After the little distraction rain began to fall and in a rush I knocked the top of my kit on the top of the hide but I quickly forgot about that when I saw a kingfisher perched right in front of me. I quickly tried turning on the camera but it wouldn't! the lens was obstructed when I knocked it on the door and in my panic it flew off to a near by branch. It felt like torture I was hurrying to fix it back together and the photos I imagined I could get would stuck in my imagination but as soon as I got it fixed I lost.

Ten minutes after nothing I would a splash and I looked into the direction and there it was the kingfisher! an unsuccessful fishing attempt it stayed on the same perch it launched off and after I took around about 100 pictures I noticed it isn't going to get me the shot I was hoping for bear in mind it was pouring down at this point so I just sat there watching the kingfisher in solitude. It continued fishing the amount of time I was there for and on two occasions it was successful whacking the fish against the perch, it was a sight to see and better than anything you could see on the T.V.
