It's funny how a bird you totally forgot about could bring back memories from last years winter. Birding has been slow and the enemy is the rain and even though today it was a rather poorly lit day and the afternoon I decided anyway to take a trip down to Roath Park. I might be on my own on this but when it comes to digiscoping I prefer the small birds they fit the frame so well but today it proved a challenge missing opurtunities such as a Robin a Goldcrest and a Wren the latter being the two smallest birds in Europe. disappointed I decided to take the easy and boring route and head to the swans and geese this is where I found those winter visitors I long so forgot about. The Pochard and the tufted duck were both there and I really find the pochard a fascinating duck (with the amount of ducks I have seen I will have to)but I don't know why it just does.

after a few snaps I headed back but saw a bird on a branch, HuH! it was a new one for me. It was a tree creeper and I could swear it was teasing me. While I was following it up the branch desperatley trying to get a photo it would fly off back to the bottom of the branch and in the end all I could get was one big blur which looked like the tree had a nasty boil! better luck next time I suppose!
